Configure your Apple Watch running screens: which metrics belong where

A running watch is only as good as the screen you glance at. Apple's Workout app lets you reorder metrics on one view; a running watch lets you build pages — an easy-run page, an interval page, a map page — and swipe between them. This is how running screens on Apple Watch work in Vanoor and how to lay them out for the run you are doing.

Vanoor's Classic screen on Apple Watch: five live metrics
ClassicUp to five metrics — the everyday page.
Vanoor's Big Metric screen on Apple Watch: one large number with two small ones
Big MetricOne number you can read mid-stride.
Vanoor's Metrics screen on Apple Watch: cadence, power, stride length, ground contact time
MetricsCadence, power, stride, ground contact.

The pages you can add

During a planned workout a Pacer page appears by itself — the current step, its target band and your live value — so you never have to add it.

Three layouts that work

RunPage 1Page 2Page 3
Easy / long runClassic: time · distance · avg pace · HR · caloriesHeart RateMap, if it is a route
Intervals / tempoPacer (automatic)Big Metric: current paceMetrics (cadence)
RacePacer (automatic)Classic: distance remaining · elapsed · avg pace · HRMap

Rules of thumb

Pair the layout with the run: interval workouts, race pacing, or a phone-free route.
